In other words, Hitfilm probably won't utilize all the power of the 3070, maybe not even the 3060 when ever it comes out.
#Hitfilm pro cuda series
Looking at the new 30 series graphics cards, even the 3070 is so unbelievably powerful, I doubt that it'd hurt you if you picked it for Hitfilm. Hitfilm is a demanding and powerful program, but I wouldn't say it's as demanding as a 3D package. Wow I am actually using this forum now! Pretty exciting! Anyway, here's my guess on that answer.
#Hitfilm pro cuda Pc
What in the airflow in your PC case? Gotta keep that bad boy cool. On some things you may not feel it and on others you will feel the wind in your face something fierce, and anywhere in between. The same could be said of this when going from my 1080 to a 3080. Any GPU effects will be that much faster on a 3080 than a 3070 but you may not notice it much since other thing(s) are slowing the frame stream down. If you have a project where media decode is bottlenecking things then the opposite can be the case. So in that scenario I can/will get max benefit from faster GPU hardware. The GPU is at 95% utilization attempting to play this. For example, I have a 3D model project, 100% CG, 1080p30, that cannot play real time on my system (motion blur off). Meaning Hitfilm is fully utilizing the GPU hardware, then the 3080 can make a seat of your pants difference. So if you have something that is hammering the GPU in Hitfilm. Games/VR and benchmarks tend to be doing on thing.Īs Triem23 stated Hitfilm does not use CUDA but Hitfilm is using GLSL and both the CUDA language and GLSL language compile/translate to use the "CUDA cores" in the same manner. Hitfilm does many things and not all things does the GPU mean a lot. That is a non specific answer but the question is also non specific. Well, the most the 3080 can be in Hitfilm is the most the 3080 is above the 3070 in general terms (basic specs and benchmarks). The 3090? At $1500, that's for the "money is no object" people.Īs with everything, will it be significantly faster in Hitfilm. This time it looks like it might actually be the 3080! My main takeaway - FOR NOW - is, in the past, just the on-paper specs always showed the xx70 as the best power/price ratio. That all said, either one of those GPUs (not to mention that 3090!) should have a noticeable increase in performance in Hitfilm compared to prior-gen cards. Hitfilm doesn't raytrace, and I believe Hitfilm doesn't leverage CUDA. We should also note Hitfilm won't leverage all the custom tech. Other system components will also have an effect on performance.
I don't think Hitfilm benefits as much from higher GPU performance as a game because Hitfilm isn't quite constantly pinging the GPU 100% of the time. Unless the internal Hitfilm engine has changed Hitfilm has a certain amount of handoff between CPU and GPU where both of those chips have a certain amount of idle time. On paper the 3080 looks like it's worth the extra money - the 3080 is MSRP'd at 40% more expensive than the 3070 and early stats/Nvidia data has the 3080 more than 40% more powerful/featured/faster in most areas - compared to the 2080 which was only about 25% faster than the 2070 at a 40% higher price. It will be tough to judge the 3070 vs 3080 performance in Hitfilm without direct testing.
